Looking back on the time since her debut album, "Coco," and the massive hit "Bubbly" propelled her from unknown to a double platinum-selling artist, Colbie Caillat laughs at her own now-shattered innocence: "I didn't know what I got myself into; I just wrote songs and sang." Two years later, her success continues to overflow. This quintessential California girl has toured the world, performed with her musical heroes John Mayer and the Wailers, and received Billboard's Rising Star Award.

For her new album, "Breakthrough," out Aug. 25, she turned to someone she has known all her life for help: her dad, Ken, who is best known for his production work on Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours" and "Tusk." Her father produced much of the album, which features a much more confident, accomplished sound than "Coco." She also reached out to hit-making producer John Shanks, known for his work with Melissa Etheridge and Sheryl Crow.
In a candid interview with MSN Music, Caillat talks about her fondness for bathrooms, her fear of touring, how she's never had her heart broken, and the night Jason Mraz kept her from bursting into tears.
